The second phase...

The next step is the large charcoal sketch on a full sheet of Fabriano paper, washing the charcoal for approximate values and an acrylic wash for permanent underpainting. After that, two coats of pumice gesso.

I’ve felt inadequate to collage since gluing construction paper shapes as a kid. Questions open up all areas of art making. After posing a question, I’m astounded to be making and enjoying collage pieces. There are artist’s who have raised collage to a stunning art form. I’ve been working these little pieces as a warmup to larger studio works and I’m happy these answers show up.

Even when I delete the image it returns. Message “can’t refresh” on the screen where the post is entered. Anybody know what has taken over? How to fix it?
