The next step is the large charcoal sketch on a full sheet of Fabriano paper, washing the charcoal for approximate values and an acrylic wash for permanent underpainting. After that, two coats of pumice gesso.

After posing a question, I’m astounded to be making and enjoying collage pieces. There are artist’s who have raised collage to a stunning art form. I’ve been working these little pieces as a warmup to larger studio works and I’m happy these answers show up.
